How can I remove spaces between only certain numbers in Excel text cells containing both letters, numbers and spaces e.g. "Tashe 1 5 17, Thomas 56 I"?

I have an Excel spreadsheet containing an Internet Archive text file. This Internet Archive text file is a conversion of a scan of a nineteenth century catalogue of early modern wills.

The scan conversion was not particularly successful and Excel had some problems reading some of the text file characters. The Excel spreadsheet contains a column of text cells. The text cells I am interested in contain names and years.

My problem is with the years. These should be four digits e.g. 1521, 1398, 1424. Unfortunately, there are many text cells where years have been misread in various ways e.g. 1521 is misread as 521 or 1511 is misread as 1 5 1 1. The numeral ‘1’ presents a particular problem. It is often not read at all or preceded/followed by a space. There are many permutations including where the lead digit (‘1’) is missing and spaces are interspersed among the three remaining digits as in '5 12' or '52 6'.

I thought I would easily find a formula that would find in a text cell a year that had spaces within it like '1 512', '15 12' or even '1 5 2 5'. To my surprise Excel has no simple function or means of finding and editing an alphanumeric string (one that includes spaces as well as letters and numbers) like '1 425' in a text cell. It seems Excel only allows searches/finding alphanumeric characters, including spaces and numbers in text cells separately.

So, if anyone could provide a formula for editing text cells such as the following three:

1. I don't have Office 365, but plan to get it shortly - I'm still using Excel 2021 Professional.
2. The text cells I need to edit are interspersed with text cells I do not need to edit.
